Manchester City have reportedly stepped up their interest in Allan Elias as they prepare for the possibility of Savinho leaving the club. The move suggests City are already lining up options before the transfer window closes, with Allan viewed as a younger attacking replacement who still has room to develop.
Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato reported that City have made progress with plans to sign Allan, though there is still no agreement with Palmeiras. That detail matters, because the Brazilian club has already shown it is not eager to sell the 22-year-old left-footed attacker.
Palmeiras have already rejected one approach
Last month, Palmeiras turned down an approach from Aston Villa that could have been worth €30m including bonuses. At the time, the club made clear that Allan was important for the rest of the season and that it did not want to let him go.
That stance helps explain why any deal for City could take time. Palmeiras have little incentive to move quickly, especially with Allan producing useful numbers in Brazil's Serie A this season.
Why Allan appeals to City
Allan has scored four goals and made two assists in 20 appearances in Brazil's Serie A this season. Those numbers do not tell the whole story, but they do underline why he has drawn interest from a major club looking for a forward with upside rather than a finished product.
For Manchester City, the fit is obvious enough on paper. If Savinho's future remains unresolved, bringing in another left-footed attacker would give the club another option in a key area of the squad. It would also allow City to plan ahead instead of waiting until the final stages of the window.
For now, the main question is whether City can turn that interest into a deal. Palmeiras have already rejected one sizeable offer, and there is no indication yet that they are ready to change their position. But the fact that City have moved on Allan at all shows how seriously they are treating the possibility of change in their attacking group.
