CyberLeek Targets Rockstar as Take Two Stock Faces GTA 6 Leak Claims

Take Two stock is in the frame after CyberLeek said it was behind Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks and tied the attack to Rockstar’s plan to release the game only as a digital download. For players, the dispute is no longer just about leaked footage; it is now a fight over how the game is sold and who gets to control it.

Videos posted online in recent hours claim to show gameplay and the map for Grand Theft Auto 6. CyberLeek later took responsibility for the attack, and a now-removed manifesto on its website said publishers should beware, adding that if CyberLeek can reach Rockstar, no one is safe.

Rockstar and the digital-only release

The manifesto also said the message was to all big corpo to behave or be the next target. It singled out Rockstar’s decision to release Grand Theft Auto 6 only as a digital download and not as a physical disc, a move that drew criticism from gamers as greedy and punishing of players.

Digital downloads can only be bought from the console’s official stores and cannot be shared or sold on in the same way as physical games. CyberLeek also criticized the removal of content that players had paid for and the locking of certain downloadable extras to an even more expensive Ultimate Edition.

CyberLeek, leaks and cryptocurrency

The leaks were presented as a protest, but they also appeared to promote CyberLeek’s own cryptocurrency. One video apparently released by the group included the text, “No physical discs? Then more leeks!” That mix of grievance and promotion complicates the claim that the campaign was only about release policy.

It is unclear how legitimate the leaks are or where they came from, and Rockstar is yet to respond to the leaks or the threats from the group claiming to be behind them. Much of the game is set to be revealed in an extended look on Netflix on 27 August, which gives players a near-term checkpoint for what the final form of Grand Theft Auto 6 may show next.

27 August on Netflix

27 August is the date that now matters most to players tracking the damage from the leak. If the next reveal answers the same questions the leaked clips raised, Rockstar can still reset the conversation around Grand Theft Auto 6 before speculation hardens into expectation.
