Napoli FC have moved to turn a difficult stretch in Benoit Badiashile’s career into a fresh opportunity. The 25-year-old Chelsea centre-back has completed a season-long loan to Napoli for the 2026-27 season, with the option to buy him next summer.
That makes this more than a simple temporary switch. For Napoli, it is a chance to add a defender with clear top-level experience. For Badiashile, it is a reset after an injury-stricken 2025-26 campaign in which he made only 16 appearances for Chelsea.
What Napoli are getting
Badiashile arrived at Chelsea from January 2023 in a £35m deal and has gone on to make 71 appearances for the club. That record suggests there is still a player here who has already been trusted at a major level, even if the last campaign interrupted that progress.
The key question for Napoli is not whether he has pedigree. It is whether he can re-establish rhythm and consistency in a new setting. A loan can be useful for both sides when the fit is right: the club gets depth and upside, while the player gets a clearer path back into regular football.
