Tornado warning in Cleveland is the headline concern as multiple rounds of storms are expected to move through Northeast Ohio on Saturday. Some storms could become severe, with the Cleveland Metro region likely to see the first activity during busy afternoon and evening hours.
Heavy rain is the biggest concern. Repeated storm tracks over the same areas could lead to localized flooding, while brief downpours may quickly cause ponding on roads and reduced visibility for drivers.
Trent Magill and the Power of 5 Weather Team said the storms are expected to arrive in a couple waves, with timing focused on the afternoon and evening. The strongest storms may produce damaging wind gusts capable of downing tree limbs and causing isolated power outages.
Huntington Bank Field Saturday
For Browns fans heading to Huntington Bank Field for the 1 p.m. kickoff, the start should be warm and mostly dry. Storms are expected to develop and become more numerous later in the afternoon, which could bring lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds by the second half or shortly after the game ends.
The weather pattern is not limited to one cell or one short-lived burst. A cold front will cross through Northeast Ohio this weekend, and that front is driving the repeated storm chances and the cooler air behind it.
Weekend Weather Shift
Temperatures are expected to drop 5-10 degrees between Saturday and Sunday. Sunday carries an isolated shot at a t-shower, then highs on Monday could be in the low 70s.
By mid-week, temperatures are expected to return to the upper 70s and low 80s with more storm chances. People in the Cleveland Metro should plan around the afternoon and evening windows on Saturday, because that is when the most disruptive weather is most likely to overlap with travel, outdoor plans, and the Browns game.
