Nike x One Piece now has a release date: the One Piece collection reaches Nike SNKRS globally on September 25, after being unveiled through.SWOOSH and a run of city pop-ups. For readers trying to buy in, the important shift is simple: Nike has moved from teasing the project to mapping out where, when, and how pairs will hit shelves.
Nick Remlinger and Devil Fruits
Nick Remlinger, GM, Energy Gaming, Nike, said, "We were inspired by the superhuman abilities that are unleashed when One Piece characters eat the Devil Fruits, much like the feeling an athlete has when they put on a pair of Nikes. We then started reimagining the beloved Air Max Plus in a way that fans of the silhouette have never seen before". The collection centers on three colorways of the Nike Air Max Plus, and each pair is tied to a Devil Fruit: the Gomu Gomu no Mi, the Ope Ope no Mi, and the Mera Mera no Mi.
Tokyo to Washington DC
The rollout is built around access points, not just a single online drop. Tokyo gets the first pop-up from September 4 to September 6, followed by Hong Kong, Jakarta, Mexico City, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, and Umeda on September 12, then Amsterdam, Dallas, Decatur, Düsseldorf, Lawrenceville, London, Madrid, Milan, San Diego, Stockholm, and Washington DC on September 19. Australia follows through Supply in Sydney from October 16 to October 18.
Apparel, polls, and pricing
All three pairs retail for $180, and the collection also includes apparel, including T-shirts with Nike and One Piece co-branded emblems, manga-style takes on vintage Nike ads, matching hats and jerseys, and a vest with a Nike-branded Jolly Roger emblem. Select users who join the SNKRS poll from August 23 through September 18 will get a push notification on September 18, which makes the launch feel less like a single drop and more like a staged allocation of inventory across regions.
Over a thousand episodes
The long wait around the collaboration is part of the story, because Nike says it had already revealed the project last year and then only recently teased it again through.SWOOSH. That slowdown matters for shoppers: the line has been positioned as a major crossover with One Piece, the manga and anime with over a thousand episodes, but the source only fully maps three sneaker colorways, a handful of apparel pieces, and a series of regional pop-ups. Which exact products and colorways will be available at each stop is still the part most buyers will be watching when September 25 arrives.
