A younger man fell from the rooftop bar at Harpos in downtown Columbia on Sunday night and was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Columbia Police had the intersection of 10th and Walnut Street outside Harpos Bar temporarily blocked off as officers and emergency responders dealt with the scene.
CPD was called to the area at 9:05 p.m., and by 9:15 bar patrons had been cleared out of the building. An officer on scene said the victim was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

That description places the first police action inside an emergency response, not a broader enforcement event, even as crime scene tape went up around the intersection and a large police presence gathered near Harpos Bar.

Olivia reported from the scene for ABC 17 News and said a witness described the younger man sitting on the rooftop railing before leaning back and falling over. That account gives the clearest explanation so far for how the fall happened, although it comes from a witness rather than police.
By around 10 p.m., the crime scene tape had been taken down. The reported sequence leaves the immediate area around Harpos open again, while the person injured in the fall remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
