He put his own baseline plainly: “I'm not a great cook but I will try really hard.” He also described Celebrity MasterChef as his first proper television show, which makes this a sharper test than a standard guest appearance. For a creator whose audience grew around gaming and internet performance, the format asks for a different kind of control under pressure.

That matters because this is not a solo run; Simons is being judged inside a shared contest where each cook has to survive the same constraints and still stand out. TommyInnit’s route to this point helps explain why the booking is notable. He began experimenting with YouTube at a young age, later launched the TommyInnit channel, and first built much of his audience around Minecraft. By 2020, he had joined Dream SMP, and in January 2021 his finale livestream drew more than 650,000 viewers at its peak. His official website says his main YouTube channel has around 15 million subscribers, with more than 50 million across all platforms and one billion YouTube views by age 17.

His career has already moved well beyond gaming. He has toured theatres, performed stand-up comedy, written books, hosted podcasts and appeared on television, and his 2023 show Annoying at First included a homecoming performance in Nottingham. Confetti Nottingham described him as one of the world’s most popular YouTube and Twitch streamers and highlighted his return to Nottingham’s Royal Concert.
The practical read here is simple: this is the point where a digital creator’s scale is being tested in a mainstream competition that does not care about subscriber counts. If Simons gets through the heat, he turns a first proper television showing into something larger; if he does not, the booking still tells you how far a Nottingham-born online name can travel.
