Michael Idov has put Lioness season 4 on the board before Paramount and Taylor Sheridan have said a word. In a recent Instagram post, he said he and Lily have joined LIONESS as writers and supervising producers, a move that points past Season 3 and into the next phase of the Paramount+ series.
“Lily and I have joined LIONESS, Taylor Sheridan's global smash hit, as writers and supervising producers,” Idov wrote. He added, “An honor, chance, and challenge of a lifetime to write for the likes of Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman. See you in the trenches.”
Jill Wagner and the $100 bet
Jill Wagner pushed the signal even further. She said, “We're going to get a Season 4. We will, we will. When people see what [Taylor Sheridan] wrote for the finale, we are getting a Season 4. Or I will pay you $100.”
That is the clearest public nudge yet that the writing room is already thinking beyond Season 3. Wagner is not speaking like someone waiting for a formal announcement; she is speaking like someone who expects the next season to be built from material already in motion. For viewers, that narrows the real question to timing, not possibility.
Season 3 and the 12-month pattern
Season 3 is still the live issue, which makes the new writing-team update more than idle chatter. The first three seasons each took roughly 12 months to premiere after the official greenlight, and Taylor Sheridan greenlit the series in 2022.
That rollout pattern is the only arithmetic needed to sketch the likely window. If the same pace holds, Lioness season 4 could land by fall 2027. It is a projection, not a promise, but it gives the studio and the audience a workable timeline for when the next season could become real production, not just a cast tease.
Why the finale talk matters
The show’s setup makes this early movement notable. The Lioness Program remained active until 2013, and the series draws from that real-world backdrop while leaning on Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Anable, James Jordan, Austin Hebert, Thad Luckinbill, Michael Kelly, and Wagner across the cast.
Wagner also said, “I didn't want this show to become Barbies with guns. I wanted it to represent the women I knew and respected in the military, and he's done that brilliantly.” That line explains why the finale talk lands differently here: the show has already shown enough creative runway to justify another season, and Idov's post suggests the writing staff is now being built as if Lioness is not stopping at Season 3.
The unresolved point is straightforward: Has Paramount officially renewed Lioness for Season 4? Until that answer comes, Idov's post and Wagner's $100 wager read as the strongest public evidence that the next season is being prepared from the inside.
