The New York Giants have traded Joshua Ezeudu to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2028 seventh-round draft pick, bringing an end to a spell that lasted 33 games in New York.
It is a low-cost move for the Chiefs, who add an offensive lineman with experience across 738 snaps and 10 total starts. For the Giants, the return is a future late-round pick, but the deal also clears the way for a roster move on a player whose time in New York was repeatedly affected by injuries.
A career in New York shaped by injuries
Ezeudu arrived in 2022 as a third-round selection after being taken No. 67 overall by the Giants. He came in as a college tackle who was expected to move inside, but his progress was interrupted almost from the start by health issues.
In the 2023 season, he started at left tackle in Week 2 after Andrew Thomas was injured, showing the kind of versatility that made him useful to the Giants. That opportunity was cut short when a toe injury ended his season.
Last season, Ezeudu spent the entire year on IR because of a calf injury. More recently, he was kicked in the back of his leg at the joint practice against Miami last week and missed a couple of practices.
What the Chiefs are getting
The Chiefs are buying depth and flexibility rather than a finished product. Ezeudu has never lacked for experience in pressure moments, and his 33-game Giants career included 10 starts, which at least gives Kansas City a lineman who has been tested in the league.
For the Giants, the move is another sign that they are reshaping the edges of the roster. For Ezeudu, it is a fresh start with a new team after a New York spell that never really had a chance to settle because of injuries.
