Perez Hilton Update: Tom Says Multiple Broken Bones Follow August 4 Crisis

Perez Hilton update: Tom says the celebrity blogger suffered multiple broken bones and cuts after falling several times during the mental health crisis that sent him to a Miami-area hospital on August 4. The family has now shifted from immediate physical care to psychiatric monitoring and recovery.

Tom on the injuries

Tom said Hilton had “some broken bones” and “some other things unrelated” that doctors traced back to his sepsis. He added that Hilton fell multiple times on the night of the incident, which left the family dealing with injuries that go beyond the original hospitalization story.

Those details matter because the latest update turns a crisis that first looked acute into a longer medical problem. If broken bones are still being discovered after the initial hospital response, the recovery is no longer just about the day of the incident; it is now about what physicians find while Hilton is being watched and treated.

Teresita Lavandeira’s custody role

Hilton voluntarily agreed to give his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, temporary legal custody of Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. That leaves the children under a formal care arrangement while their father focuses on getting through the mental health side of the crisis.

The family also said psychiatrists continued checking on Hilton throughout his hospitalization to monitor his condition and ensure his safety. Tom said, “So, we are now just transitioning into the mental side of things,” which shows the case has moved from emergency treatment to a slower phase where safety and supervision come first.

Miami-area hospital aftermath

Hilton was taken to a Miami-area hospital on August 4 after authorities responded to reports that he appeared to harm himself during a TikTok livestream. A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office incident report cited by NBC 6 South Florida said fire rescue personnel treated him at the scene for multiple lacerations and an overdose before the transfer.

His family had already described his condition as serious but stable and said he had experienced significant blood loss. Hilton’s sister also told authorities that he had been unusually quiet that day, had locked a bedroom door, and later appeared naked and covered in blood before banging on a car window.

The missing cause

Tom said the family still has not found the cause of the mental break. He put it plainly on The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker: “The actual healing, or digging into what caused this mental break as I've called it, hasn't been discovered.” He added, “I don't know if it will ever be.”

That is the unresolved part of the story. The injuries are now documented, the children are under Teresita’s temporary custody, and Hilton is under psychiatric observation, but the trigger for the crisis has not come into view. For now, the practical takeaway is simple: the physical wounds are only part of the recovery, and the family is treating the mental side as the longer fight.
