Chelsea have opened talks to sign honest ahanor from Atalanta, with the 18-year-old defender now at the centre of late-window interest. Atalanta will evaluate any proposals that arrive before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Cristiano Giuntoli said Atalanta will look at any late approaches after telling reporters: "Right now, there’s a week to go," and "We’ll be very attentive to what happens." He added: "I won’t deny that we have some players who are attracting strong interest, but no offers have arrived."
The timing leaves Chelsea trying to turn preliminary talks into a formal bid quickly. Honest Ahanor has two years remaining on his current contract, which gives Atalanta room to judge any offer against the deadline rather than under pressure from an immediate expiry.
Honest Ahanor and Atalanta
Ahanor joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer and made 35 appearances, including 18 starts, across all competitions in his debut season. He has been capped twice by Italy and has mainly played as the left-sided defender in a back three, while also filling in at left-back, in central midfield and on the wing.
That profile is why his situation has drawn more than one club. Brighton had an opening offer rejected, and Chelsea are now among the clubs monitoring him before the transfer deadline, with Atalanta saying the final few days will decide whether anything progresses.
For Chelsea, the next step is simple: make the talks count before the deadline passes. For Atalanta, the choice is whether any late proposal matches the value of a player they have used regularly since last summer.
