Hoyoverse unveiled Nodusfall at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and the new game immediately signals a sharper turn in tone. The project is set in a darker fantasy world, with player avatars called The Weavers facing calamitous enemies.
That makes Nodusfall more than another title announcement. Hoyoverse already has ongoing games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, so the reveal adds a new branch to a lineup built on active live-service momentum.
The Weavers in combat
The Weavers are built around movement as much as attack. Their thread abilities let them move around the arena and leap forward onto the enemies they are fighting, which gives the action a more careful and calculated feel than a straight rush-in brawler.
Game Informer said the action has a bit of a Monster Hunter feel, and it would be stunned if Elden Ring was not among the inspirations. That comparison points to a more deliberate combat rhythm than Hoyoverse’s better-known games, where positioning and timing appear to carry more weight than raw speed.
Hoyoverse's darker turn
Nodusfall is being positioned as a new Hoyoverse project, but no release date or other news was announced. That leaves the reveal as a first look rather than a full launch plan, which means the immediate takeaway is tonal: the company is testing a darker fantasy lane without giving players a schedule to hold it to.
For players, that means the practical next step is simple — watch for follow-up details rather than treating this as a near-term release. The reveal establishes the project, the world, and the playable characters, but it stops short of the information that would matter most for planning: when Nodusfall will actually arrive.
