Donald Trump Stock Trades Energy Companies: 1,000 June Trades Include Netflix Sales

Donald Trump stock trades energy companies and other major companies topped more than 1,000 purchases and sales in June. The filing names Netflix, The Walt Disney Co., Warner Bros. Discovery, Comcast and Amazon. The White House has said the portfolio is independently managed, but the report still lands as several of the named companies have regulatory business before the administration.

Netflix Trades Reach June 24

June 24 carried one of the largest swings in the report, with Trump selling between $50,001 and $100,000 of Netflix and between $100,001 and $250,000 in Comcast securities, while also selling $100,001 to $250,000 shares of Amazon. Earlier in the month, he sold between $500,001 and $1 million of Netflix on June 18. For readers tracking portfolio turnover, that sequence shows repeated trading rather than a one-off adjustment.

June 16 added another Netflix sale between $15,001 and $50,000, plus a purchase of $1,001 to $15,000 in Warner Bros. Discovery and a Comcast sale between $1,001 and $15,000. June 12 also included a Netflix sale between $50,001 and $100,000. The filing therefore shows Netflix moving on both sides of the ledger, with sales dominating the larger dollar amounts.

The Walt Disney Co. On June 18

June 18 also showed a purchase between $50,001 and $100,000 in The Walt Disney Co., after a smaller buy between $1,001 and $15,000 on June 3. That same June 3 disclosure included purchases of Netflix and Amazon, each between $1,001 and $15,000, along with a Comcast sale in the same small range. The pattern matters because it shows the report was not built around one sector or one name.

June 15 brought a larger Amazon purchase, between $15,001 and $50,000, before another Amazon buy between $1,001 and $15,000 on June 23. June 23 also included a Netflix purchase between $1,001 and $15,000 and another Comcast sale between $1,001 and $15,000. Across the month, the activity ran in both directions, but the bigger disclosed moves leaned toward selling Netflix and Comcast shares.

White House Portfolio Rules

“all holdings are maintained in discretionary accounts and invested through computer-based model portfolios that automatically replicate recognized indexes, such as the Schwab 1000.” A White House official said Trump does not have the ability to “direct, influence, or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold.”

That explanation is central because the filing comes from the Office of Government Ethics and names companies with business before the administration, including a Justice Department approval on June 12 for Paramount’s proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, and separate FCC matters involving Disney. What the report does not explain is which holdings or investment decisions produced the more than 1,000 June transactions; readers will have to wait for the next disclosure to see whether that pace continues.
