London Fire Brigade sent around 125 firefighters to a major explosion in London after fire broke out at a mixed waste facility in Neasden, just under a mile from Wembley Stadium. The blaze involved an industrial unit about 100m by 150m, and crews were working to bring it under control.
The Brigade said 20 fire engines were also sent, along with three of its 32m ladders, its Drone Team, a hose laying unit and a high volume pump. The first of over 70 calls came in at 11.34am on August 28, 2026.
Neasden and Wembley Stadium
The fire started in an industrial estate in Neasden near Wembley Stadium in Wembley, London. London Fire Brigade said the response drew crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Willesden and surrounding fire stations. The location put the blaze within a busy area that includes multiple businesses, among them an Amazon Warehouse and Ikea's Wembley branch.
A statement issued to The Metro said the fire was from the nearby London Energy. The exact cause of the fire was not known, so the reported explosion and the fire remain linked in the account but not explained by a final finding.
Metropolitan and Jubilee lines
London Fire Brigade said Tube services on the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines were impacted as crews responded. Rail services into London Marylebone were also disrupted, and traffic in the area was heavily affected shortly after the fire.
For passengers and businesses nearby, the immediate issue was not only the fire itself but the response zone around it. Travel into and through the area was slowed while firefighters kept working at the scene.

The fire came just days before AEW All In 2026 at Wembley Stadium.
