Cambridge United have signed Owen Moxon from Stockport County on a season-long loan deal, adding another midfield option as they continue to reshape the squad for the new campaign.

The move is Cambridge United's eighth signing of the summer and comes on the same day Mamadou Jobe went the other way, underlining how active the U's have been in the market.

What Moxon brings

Moxon, 28, arrived at Stockport from Portsmouth last February and spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic. Before joining Cambridge United, he had already played for both Stockport and Wigan Athletic, giving him experience across different League One settings.

Over that spell, he made 23 appearances and scored 16 times, a return that helps explain why Cambridge United were interested in bringing him in for a full season.

Moxon said he first heard about the interest quite early in the window and felt the move was a good fit. For Cambridge United, the hope will be that he can settle quickly and give the team another reliable option as the season approaches.

It is another straightforward addition for Cambridge United, but one that matters because loan moves at this stage often shape the depth chart well beyond opening day. With Moxon now in place, the U's have added both experience and another layer of flexibility in midfield.
