Westview High School went into lockdown Friday afternoon after Douglas County Sheriff's Office said an armed student was on campus. Omaha Public Schools later said the school was following Standard Response Protocol procedures.
Omaha Public Schools sent its alert at 2:34 p.m. and told families, "Westview High is currently in lockdown and following our Standard Response Protocol procedures. We will communicate additional information as soon as possible."
Douglas County Sheriff's Office said it received reports of an armed party at Westview High School and that the reported student had a firearm in a bag. Units responded just after 2 p.m., officers were posted around the school and a helicopter flew overhead while authorities searched the building.
