Chase and status have unveiled Generic Everything and released Gone Too Far on 2nd October, putting a new full-length project into motion with a single that points straight at the album’s range. Saul Milton said he played much of the guitar parts himself, a choice that gives the record a more hands-on frame even as the feature list stretches across D&B and rap.
Debbie on Gone Too Far
Gone Too Far pairs Chase & Status with Debbie and is built as a soulful D&B crossover around her vocals. That matters because the single arrives as the lead public signal for a project that Chase & Status say is about resisting sameness, not leaning into it.
“‘Generic Everything’ is about resisting the pressure to become the same as everyone else.” They add that “In a world shaped by AI, algorithms and endless content, creativity is constantly being pushed towards what’s familiar, safe and predictable.”
J Hus and Little Simz
Generic Everything brings in J Hus, Little Simz, Skrillex, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, IRAH, Col3trane, Finessekid, Debbie, Saam Sultan and Ledbyher. The scale is doing two jobs at once: it signals reach across rap, rave, D&B, sound system culture, dubstep and rock, while also creating a release built around familiar festival and mainstream electronic spaces.
This year, Chase & Status have already released Through The Pain with Pozer, Doin It More with Blade Brown, and Homework with Lancey Foux. The album therefore reads less like a reset than a consolidation of an active run, with Generic Everything now set to collect those moves into one package rather than leaving each single to stand alone.
Silverstone and Boomtown
Last year, Chase & Status scored their first No. 1 single with BACKBONE featuring Stormzy, and BACKBONE spent 15 weeks in the Top 10. In April, it was announced that they will appear in 007: First Light playing a virtual DJ set, while this year they have also headlined the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, made a surprise B2B appearance with Skrillex at Boomtown, and performed a D&B and dubstep set on the Tomorrowland Main Stage in Belgium.
Reading & Leeds now sits in the same cycle, with Chase & Status headlining the Main Stage there, and SECTION 63 having already been debuted in London, Tilburg and Perth, Australia. The practical takeaway for listeners is simple: Generic Everything is not arriving as a one-off single campaign, but as the next layer of a run that already reaches clubs, festivals, and a larger album rollout.
