Jenny Lupton’s family said they received her jenny lupton final text message only hours before the 50-year-old Southwest Airlines flight attendant was found dead in Hawaii. Tresa Lupton said, “It doesn’t feel real,” as the family tried to understand what happened at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.
The family said Lupton had worked for Southwest Airlines for 29 years and was in Hawaii for work when she died three days ago. She planned to stay for several days before returning to Moore, and her family said it wanted to travel to Hawaii to “See for ourselves how this all went down.”
Tresa Lupton on the final text
Tresa Lupton said the family kept replaying the last message because it arrived only hours before her sister was found dead. Crystal Rios said Jenny Lupton “wanted to make sure everyone was always included,” a trait the family says fit the way she lived and traveled with others.
Hannah Lupton said, “We got to travel together, travel to San Diego, Colorado several times,” adding that Jenny Lupton had gone to Hawaii multiple times. The family also said she adored her 15-year-old son.
Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner
The Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner told the family it appeared Lupton fell from the balcony of her 24th floor hotel room. A hotel employee later found her body near a dumpster, and Honolulu police opened an Unattended Death investigation.
The family said the hotel security chief told them there are more than 70 cameras in the area that police are reviewing. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has contacted the office of Hawaiian Attorney General Anne E. Lopez about the death, while Southwest Airlines said, “The Southwest Airlines family is deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague during a layover in Hawaii. We have offered our condolences and support to the Employee’s family and co-workers and are engaged with local authorities as they investigate.”
Honolulu police investigation
The family said, “The timeline doesn’t make sense, and we are afraid that maybe there was foul play.” That leaves the next step with Honolulu police and the medical examiner’s office, as the family pushes for a full account of the hours before Lupton died and the final text they say came just before her death.
