Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels have become part of an investor group that has bought 90 percent of Estrela Amadora's shares for 40 million euros, in a move that underlines how former FC Bayern München figures are now stepping into football ownership and management as well as playing careers.

From 2011 to 2018, it existed only as a youth department for seven years, then returned to the lowest division and later became eligible to start in the third division after a merger with Club Sintra Football.
