Infinity Ward Holds Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Steam Peak at 115,145

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta did not top its Steam peak of 115,145 in its second and final session, even after Infinity Ward added a Warzone sampler and changed the way the game played. On Friday, Steam reached a little over 113,000 concurrent players, leaving the beta short of its first-weekend high.

Steam's 115,145 Peak

115,145 is the number that frames the second weekend. That Steam peak came in the first beta weekend, and the later run never got past it, which is why the second-session data reads as a hold rather than growth.

Steam is often a good barometer for the performance of most major games, so the flat reading matters beyond a single platform. PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2 are part of the beta too, but their numbers do not show up in Steam's count, which makes the PC platform the clearest public gauge available here.

Infinity Ward's Blood Rush Changes

Infinity Ward made the second weekend feel considerably different by removing Tactical Sprint by default and tying it to the Blood Rush Perk. It also nerfed slides by reducing their distance and speed, increased the slide-to-jump delay, reduced the damage of every gun, tweaked spawns to cut down on the chaos of the first weekend, and raised Killstreak requirements by one across the board.

The second session also added a sampler of Warzone's next Resurgence map, two Ground War maps, and every map and mode from the first beta weekend. That mix gave returning players more to test, but the Steam numbers still stalled below the earlier peak, which is the clearest sign the new content did not create a bigger PC surge.

Second Weekend on Steam

The practical takeaway for Steam players is simple: the beta stayed popular enough to hold above 113,000 on Friday, but not popular enough to break 115,145 again. With the second and final session already underway, the only question left for readers tracking engagement is whether the added Warzone content and movement overhaul can do more work on other platforms than they did on Steam.
