Solihull and the West Midlands
JLR has added new battery and electric drive unit production lines, and around 9,000 employees in Solihull have been upskilled for electrification. A further 1,500 employees have been trained across England's West Midlands, which turns the launch into a manufacturing reset across the region rather than a single-model event.
JLR's Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton now produces battery packs and electric drive units alongside internal combustion engines. That mix shows the transition is still partial, with electric hardware moving into an existing industrial footprint instead of replacing it overnight.
