The timing matters. On Sunday, rumours in Italy said Juventus were closing in on the deal, and Sky Italia then reported a basic agreement between the clubs for the 2002-born midfielder. By Monday morning, Fabrizio Romano had given his "here we go" confirmation, making the transfer development feel essentially complete. Sarr, according to Romano, wanted Juventus, and that desire appears to have helped push the move across the line.
Why Juventus needed this deal
Juventus were not shopping for midfield help in a vacuum. Their pursuit of reinforcements became more urgent after Kessie turned them down and Khephren Thuram had physical problems. That left the club looking for a player who could add stability, energy and availability in the middle of the pitch, and Sarr fits that brief more neatly than a purely speculative signing would.
