Elliot Lee has left Wrexham by mutual consent, bringing an end to a spell in which he played a major part in the club’s rise through the divisions and is now a free agent in Free Agent Football.
The 31-year-old joined Wrexham from Luton Town in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 152 appearances, scoring 41 goals across a period that included three successive promotions. For a player who was central to the story of Wrexham’s climb, it is a notable change in direction as his influence faded after the club reached the Championship.

Phil Parkinson was clear about Lee’s contribution, saying he wanted to thank him for what he has done for the club and describing him as a great player who made a significant contribution to Wrexham’s rise through the divisions.
That is the important context here. Lee was not a fringe figure in the early years of the project. He was part of the promotion push when Wrexham won the National League title with 111 points in 2022-23, after being named in the team of the year, and he was again recognised the following campaign when Wrexham went up to League One.
His role changed as Wrexham moved higher
Lee’s career at Wrexham tells the story of a squad that kept improving. Last year, the club reached the Championship, but Lee’s own involvement was reduced. He made three appearances last season, all in the EFL Cup, before later joining Doncaster Rovers on loan.
So far this season, he has not been involved in any of Wrexham’s four matchday squads. That makes the mutual consent termination a logical next step, allowing him to move on without a transfer fee and find the minutes he now wants.
