Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update Ver. 13.0.5 is live, and Nintendo says it fixes a single bug involving invalid data from sent and received online battles. The patch arrives as the first new update for the game in over a year, after Ver. 13.0.4 was released in June 2025.
For players, the immediate change is narrow: the game now has a maintenance patch aimed at online battle data, but the notice also ties the update to replay handling. Anyone who wants to keep older Replays can convert them into videos before installing Ver. 13.0.5.
Replay Data in Vault
The replay warning is the part most likely to affect players right away. Nintendo says there may be compatibility issues with Replays from Ver. 9.0.0 to Ver. 13.0.4, while Replays from Ver. 8.1.0 and earlier are not compatible at all.
That leaves a simple choice for anyone preserving match files: use Vault, open Replays, go to Replay Data, and select Convert to Video before updating. Once that step is skipped, older Replay Data may not carry over in the same way after the patch is installed.

The new version follows Ver. 13.0.4, which came out in June 2025. With Ver. 13.0.5 now available, the game has moved from a prior release that had stood alone for more than a year as the next update finally arrived.
That timing makes the patch more than a routine file change for players who store matches. The bug fix targets online battle data, while the replay notice adds a separate decision point for anyone with older files sitting in Vault.
