United Airlines new nonstop routes will add 10 international cities for 2027, with service starting as early as March 2027. The airline said tickets went on sale the same day, as Scott Kirby outlined the expansion at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The company said the plan is its largest international network expansion in its history and includes three new routes across Europe and Asia. United said it now flies to more than 160 international destinations, up from 58 it added to its route map since 2017.

Kirby said, “The creative and strategic way we've expanded our international network since the pandemic has made all the difference, not only for our customers and employees, but also as a way to differentiate United and build a brand focused on customers.” He also said, “We offer the most flights across the Atlantic and Pacific and Newark is the best Atlantic gateway in the country - so far this year, it's the most on-time airport in the New York City area. We're going to keep building on that momentum as we welcome the new A321XLR to our fleet and continue to elevate the travel experience for every customer who chooses United.”
The airline debuted the Born to Explore A321XLR at Newark Liberty International Airport on Aug. 25, 2026. United said the aircraft features lie-flat seats in United Polaris and Economy Plus seats with extra elbow room across an open middle seat.
United's 10 new cities
United said the 10 new international cities are Okinawa, Japan; Toulouse, France; Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; Marseille, France; Ibiza, Spain; Valencia, Spain; Terceira, Portugal; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Olbia (Sardinia), Italy; and Catania (Sicily), Italy. It also said it is adding new flights from Los Angeles to Osaka, Japan; Washington, D.C. to Milan, Italy; and Denver to Paris, France, and restarting service from San Francisco to Tel Aviv, Israel.
United said eight of the 10 new cities are not served by any other U.S. airline, but it did not explain why those markets were chosen. For travelers, the practical change is not just a longer destination list; it is a same-day ticket sale tied to a start window that begins in March 2027, with the airline leaving route-by-route timing to be filled in later.

The open question for customers is which exact start date and aircraft assignment will apply to each of the 10 new international city routes. United has given the launch window and the sale date; the route-by-route schedule is still the missing piece.
