Vanessa Trump helped Kai Trump move into her first college apartment as Kai started college at the University of Miami. In a video shared on Instagram, the two were buying items from Target while Kai said she had already spent HOURS shopping for what she needed for the apartment.
Kai said, “We spent HOURS shopping for everything I could possibly need for my apartment and getting ready for this new chapter of college life!” She added, “So thankful my mom was there to do it all with me. She truly is the BEST mom, and I’m so grateful for her. Check out my new vlog to see my first week of school and getting moved in!”
Target for apartment items
Vanessa said Kai needed bedding, cleaning supplies, cooking utensils and more for the apartment. She also said, “She already has clothes. I'm not buying clothes. She could open up a clothing store with all the clothes she has.”
Kai wrote, “Back-to-school shopping with Mom!” and described the move as part of getting ready for college life. The shopping trip and apartment move show how the start of school is also a logistics project, with deliveries, packing and basic household items all handled at once.
Miami move logistics
Kai said, “Well, I kind of messed up the furniture delivery, so she drove to Miami yesterday,” and Vanessa replied, “To wait for three deliveries.” Vanessa also said, “It was okay, it was rush hour too, so it was fun times,” before adding, “What we do for our children, right?”
The move came after Vanessa said earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In May, she wrote, “While this isn’t the news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” and, “I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”

The following month, Vanessa said she was recovering from surgery and was about to enter the second stage of her treatment. That leaves Kai settling into her first week of school while Vanessa moves into the next stage of care, with the apartment move showing both at the same moment.
