Four people appeared in court over the baby stabbed death of Baby S, a newborn girl found with 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings in Sheffield. Two men and two women were charged with murder, and a 15-year-old girl faced a related charge as the case moved to Sheffield Crown Court.
The hearing at Sheffield Magistrates' Court heard that Baby S was found on Sunday at a property in Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area. Prosecutor Luke Hopkinson told the court the body was on top of a washing machine in an outhouse, wrapped in a towel inside a blue bag.

Andrea Skopova, Peter Horvath, Nina Horvathova and Peter Horvath appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice. The 15-year-old girl also appeared in the same court charged with perverting the course of justice.
All five Slovakian nationals were remanded into custody. Their case was sent on to Sheffield Crown Court, where they were due to appear on Thursday.

The scale of the injuries gave the case its weight: Baby S suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings. That detail was set out as the court heard how the newborn was found in Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area after officers were called to the property on Sunday.
Det Ch Insp Tom Woodward said, “This is a significant step in our investigation into the tragic circumstances that resulted in the death of this baby girl.” He added, “I would like to thank our communities, who I know will have been deeply impacted by this traumatic incident, for supporting us as we work through this intricate investigation.”

Woodward also said, “We would ask the public to avoid speculating and posting information online about this case while the legal process takes it course.” He said, “Protecting the integrity of the criminal justice process is crucial to us securing justice for this little girl.”
Hopkinson said the defendants were accused of perverting the course of justice by cleaning the scene, adding a second charge path to the murder case. Police said two women aged 26 and 37 who had been arrested on suspicion of murder remained on bail, while officers continued inquiries in and around Holywell Heights.
