Matt Kendrick Good Good fallout deepens as CEO, president exit

Matt Kendrick Good Good lost both of its top operators after the backlash around an Aug. 21 advertisement turned into leadership turnover. Good Good Golf said Kendrick and Joe Flannery are no longer with the company, and Nahid Giga is stepping in as interim CEO.

Aug. 21 ad backlash

The ad at the center of the dispute promoted a Good Good-branded Callaway driver. In it, Garrett Clark appears to shove Alexis Miestowski to the ground as she tries to touch his driver, a scene that helped push the company from a social-media problem into a broader business issue.

Good Good deleted the advertisement as soon as the backlash began, then apologized a day later. The speed of that response did not keep the fallout from spreading: Callaway severed its relationship with Good Good, and the company’s apparel was pulled from Golf Galaxy/Dick’s Sporting Goods, PGA Tour Superstore and Target.

Kendrick’s 3:38 a.m. post

At 3:38 a.m. Friday, Kendrick posted on his personal X account: “Interesting that @CallawayGolf asks us to make an ad then approves it then asks us to take the fall then drops us in a coordinated media blitz and covers it up by giving a million dollars away thinking everyone will be ok with it. 30 for 39 [sic] will be legendary.” He also told Front Office Sports that Good Good’s marketing team was responsible for the ad and that he had not seen it before publication.

That version of events clashes with the internal memo signed by Alex Puchala, which said Kendrick had stepped down and Flannery had chosen to part ways as well. The split matters because it shows the dispute was not just about one bad ad; it reached the chain of approval, the blame game, and who was left to steer the company after the damage spread to retail and sponsorship deals.

Good Good’s next move

Joe Flannery’s exit removes a leader with marketing experience at TravisMatthew, The North Face and Score Sports. With Giga now in as interim CEO, Good Good is left to stabilize operations after losing retail placement, ending its PGA Tour sponsorship in November and seeing Golf Channel push a project to 2027.

The immediate question is who controlled the ad from start to finish. Kendrick says Callaway approved it and then pushed Good Good to take the fall; Good Good’s memo says he had already stepped down. Until that chain is sorted out, the company’s leadership change looks less like a clean reset than an attempt to contain a dispute that reached every part of the business.
