Sony will return with two PlayStation State of Play streams on September 3, 2026, and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the only game named for the presentation. The schedule gives PlayStation a rare same-day double slot, with one stream followed immediately by a second showcase focused on studios from Japan and Asia.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation first
The first stream is set for 6am PT, 9am ET, 3:00pm CEST, and 10:00pm JST. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the only title Sony has singled out so far, and the tease points to an extended look at its vast world rather than a broad roster of reveals.
That narrow setup matters because Sony is also promising updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. For viewers, the practical read is simple: the presentation has room for more than one reveal, but only one title currently has a name attached to it.
Japan and Asia follow-up
A second State of Play will run right after the first stream and will focus on studios from Japan and Asia. Sony is making the day feel less like a single showcase and more like a split programming block, with one presentation built around the main stream and another carved out for a regional lineup.
That structure leaves room for PlayStation Studios to distribute announcements across two audiences without forcing every game into one feed. It also echoes the way Sony has used State of Play before: PlayStation’s June State of Play revealed God of War Laufey, while Housemarque gave Saros in April 2026 and Naughty Dog was still holding Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet back over 18 months after reveal.
What Sony leaves open
Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to release on September 15, God of War Laufey is scheduled to arrive in February 2027, and Ghost of Yotei’s Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion drops alongside a new roguelike mode on October 1. Those dates frame the calendar around Sony’s next moves, but they do not expand the list of what will actually show up on September 3.
Housemarque’s previous game, Returnal, later gained co-op play and the endless Tower of Sisyphus mode after launch, and Horizon: Hunter’s Gathering has reportedly been rebooted internally due to negative feedback from playtests. That mix of shipping plans, post-launch support, and internal resets is why the September 3 streams matter: they are the cleanest public checkpoint for what Sony wants to push next, and the only title it has put on the record is Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
Naughty Dog posted, “Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!” That line captures the main takeaway better than any schedule note: Sony has room to surprise, but for now the one thing viewers can count on is a two-part State of Play day built around a single named game and a second showcase aimed at Japan and Asia.
