Colorado wide receiver Danny Scudero is listed as a game-time decision for Thursday’s Sept. 3 season opener against Georgia Tech, even after missing time in fall camp. Scudero is still on the Buffaloes’ official depth chart as a starter, which makes his availability one of the more important early questions for Colorado’s Week 1 road trip.
The opener matters because Colorado is set to face Georgia Tech on the road without the benefit of releasing detailed injury information. Since Georgia Tech is an ACC opponent, the Buffaloes were not required to share official injury updates, leaving Scudero’s status to be judged by the depth chart and the comments from Deion Sanders.
What Deion Sanders said about Scudero
Sanders had already indicated in early August that Scudero was making progress and that he hoped the receiver would return sooner rather than later. By Aug. 24, Sanders said he expected to see the full receiver rotation at practice before Week 1.
He also made clear that he wanted a full week of work before feeling comfortable with the group. “That’ll happen probably by Wednesday or Thursday, hopefully, all of them, because I got to see a week's worth of work before I could really bet on it,” Sanders said.
Sanders has repeatedly pointed to the wider offensive structure around the receivers, noting that Colorado has a strong coordinator, a strong offensive line and good backs. He also said Scudero and the rest of the receivers should be back out wide and in familiar territory, and that he could not wait to see them all on the field together.
For Colorado, that puts Scudero in a familiar but meaningful spot: listed to start, but still not fully cleared as the Buffaloes head into a Week 1 matchup that will help set the tone for the season.
