A fundraiser for the family of Jasmine Ferguson raised over £3,000 within hours after police said a body had been found in woods near McLachlan Street in Stenhousemuir. The 16-year-old had been reported missing on Tuesday, and police announced the discovery on Thursday.
The rapid response came after the death of the Larbert High School pupil. A balloon release has also been planned in tribute to the teenager, while the school said support is available for affected pupils through its counsellor, Listening Service and partners at Be Inn Unity.

Headteacher Joanne Wilson said Ferguson was part of the school community and that the loss has affected pupils, staff and families. “Everyone at Larbert High School is deeply saddened by the death of a much loved former pupil, Jasmine.”
Wilson added: “Jasmine was an important part of our school community and her death has had a profound impact on many of our young people, staff and families. Our thoughts are very much with her family, friends and all those who knew and cared for her.” The school also said its priority is to support pupils who have been affected.
“Our priority is to ensure that pupils who have been affected are surrounded by the care and support they need. A range of support is available in school, including through our school counsellor, Listening Service and our partners at Be Inn Unity, alongside the ongoing support provided by our staff and Pupil Support teams.”

Stenhousemuir FC Community Foundation also issued a message after the death, saying: “Our thoughts are with Jasmine’s family, friends and everyone who knows and loves her at this incredibly difficult time.” The foundation’s response joined the fundraiser in driving the community reaction around Stenhousemuir.
Police have said the death is not being treated as suspicious, but they have not said how Ferguson died. That leaves the question of what caused her death while the family, school and wider community continue to respond around her name and the support already raised.
