The result came after a positive start for The Shaymen, who had already been tested in the opening stages at the EBB Stadium in Hampshire. In the 7th minute, Zak Gilsenan lifted a free kick over the top into Aldershot Town’s penalty area and it was cleared. Eight minutes later, Will Hugill fired towards goal and Jonathan Macauley saved, while the key chance arrived in the 24th minute when Cody Johnson was booked and Aldershot Town were awarded a penalty after Kiki Oshilaja was caught on the penalty spot.
True Grant keeps Halifax in it
That was the match’s big turning point. In the first half, True Grant saved Tristan Abrahams’ penalty, denying Aldershot Town the lead and keeping the game level at 0-0 by half-time.
