Katie Taylor husband Sean McCavanagh became part of her life in 2025, and Taylor is now stepmother to his five children while she prepares for her final boxing match. Taylor first went public with McCavanagh in September 2025 during a visit to a rehabilitation center in Wicklow.

McCavanagh is an American real estate agent. Taylor said in January on RTE Radio 1 that an early Bruno Mars concert date helped her realize he was someone she could see herself marrying, and that finding love later in life gave her something meaningful outside boxing.
She and McCavanagh attended the same Pentecostal church in Connecticut, and Taylor said in April that he would be open to moving permanently to Ireland after her match. Their family time has already included a vacation in Boston and a baseball game.

McCavanagh's family history also sits in the background of the marriage. His first wife died suddenly in October 2023, before his relationship with Taylor became public, and she was the mother of his two sons and three daughters.
McCavanagh told the Sunday World last year, "It's the best ever, she's the best!" He also said, "How could you not? I loved my time in Ireland."

Taylor continues to live in Connecticut while preparing to fight Flora Pili at Croke Park on Sept. 5 in her final boxing match. Her professional record stands at 25-1, and her career victories over Amanda Serrano and Chantelle Cameron remain part of the reason this farewell draws attention.
The practical question now is whether McCavanagh will settle in Ireland after the fight. Taylor has already said he would be open to that move, and the answer will shape how the couple balances family life around her exit from boxing.
