The new 28 Days Later Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook is missing one of the film’s most terrifying shots: the infected hitting the back of the taxi during the tunnel chase, followed by the close-up of its eyes. The release went on sale August 31, so the flaw was spotted almost as soon as collectors started checking the disc.

Their taxi blows a tire in a dark tunnel blocked with abandoned vehicles and debris, and the new 4K cut jumps ahead instead of showing the hit that should land in the middle of the scare.
The Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook is priced at just under $40 and includes 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray discs. The packaging is blood-red, and the front of The SteelBook features the infected eyes, which makes the missing shot harder to miss for anyone comparing the artwork to the movie itself.

A front cover built around the infected eyes promises one version of the scene, while the new 4K release appears to skip the moment that shows those eyes in motion during the tunnel attack. For collectors, that is the difference between a clean upgrade and a release that starts to look like an alteration.

The timing also lands because 28 Days Later has been difficult to legally watch and buy over the years, though the availability picture has improved. The film is currently free to stream on iPlayer and Prime Video in the UK, while viewers in the US can rent it through Prime Video and Apple TV. For buyers deciding whether to keep the SteelBook, the immediate issue is whether the missing tunnel-chase footage was removed by mistake or changed on purpose.
