ACC Network is taking ACC Huddle on an unusual early-season road trip in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season, with the flagship studio show set to originate from three campuses across four days.
The run begins Friday with the No. 7 Miami-Stanford game, moves to Cal on Saturday, and finishes Monday with the matchup between No. 19 SMU and the Seminoles. It is a travel-heavy plan, but one that fits the conference's coast-to-coast footprint and the opening-week schedule.
A deliberate production push
Jeramy Michiaels, ACC Network's director of programming, said the network saw an opportunity after the Week 0 broadcast in Charlottesville, where ACC Huddle covered UVA-NC State after the game had originally been slated for Brazil. That experience helped confirm the network's approach to the start of the season.
Michiaels said the network realized it could be at Cal the next day after covering one great game, and that the Monday night conference matchup between Florida State and SMU in an exclusive prime-time window on made the schedule even more appealing. He also said the network thought hopscotching the continent for three games in four days would be the right move to kick off the season.
What the road trip means
The decision reflects more than a simple broadcasting plan. ACC Network is using one of its most visible football shows to showcase the league's full footprint, with stops that span different campuses, time zones and game environments in a short window.
Alex Farmartino said the goal is to give viewers at home a sense of what is happening on campus and how much energy is building around each game. He pointed to the atmosphere around college football Saturdays — the tailgates, the crowd energy and the campus setting — as part of the reason the network is willing to commit extra resources to take the show on the road.
Michiaels also stressed that the decision was not made lightly. He said the network spent a lot of time thinking through the moving pieces, since the trip involves not just the four talent on the set but dozens of other personnel who help make each show possible.
That is what makes this Week 1 plan notable. It is not just a studio show changing locations. It is ACC Network making a statement about how it wants to present the league's biggest early-season games, with ACC Huddle on site for three different stops in four days.
