Jamie Evans, 20, died after being found with a stab wound on Orme Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme after a crash just after 17:00 BST on Friday. Passers-by tried to help him until paramedics arrived, and he later died in hospital from a single stab wound.
Staffordshire Police arrests
Staffordshire Police said three men have been arrested in connection with the investigation. Two men, aged 20 and 22, were held on suspicion of murder, while a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
The force said it is understood the stab wound was suffered before the crash, which leaves the sequence of events focused on the moments between the injury and the collision. The crash involved Evans’s red Ford Fiesta and a grey Audi in Orme Road.

Norton-in-Hales Cricket Club described him as exceptionally talented
and a great friend
. The club said he started his cricket in the 2nd XI alongside his dad, made his first XI debut at 14 and scored his first 1st XI century at 16.
Staffordshire Police said an online portal has been created for anyone with information, while specially trained officers are supporting Evans’s family. The arrests mean the inquiry is already moving through custody time and further questioning as police work out what happened between the stabbing, the crash and his death.
