Jaclyn Smith Shares Youthful Photos and Credits Clean Living

Jaclyn Smith, 80, turned a fresh set of glamorous photos into a direct statement about aging: “Clean living, being loved.” The longtime Kelly Garrett actor paired the images with a message that pointed less to makeup than to family, discipline and habit.

In the photos, Smith debuted a glossy, voluminous hairstyle with sweeping curtain bangs and face-framing layers. One image showed her with hairstylist José Eber; another showed her applying a pale pink lipstick while she captioned the post, “The king of lipsticks has done it again with another best selling shade for Sisley Paris - Malibu.”

Kelly Garrett and the 50th anniversary

Earlier this year, at the Paley Honors Spring Gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of Charlie’s Angels, Smith was asked what sat behind the age-defying reaction she still draws. Her answer stayed simple: “Clean living, being loved.” That tracks with how she has talked about age before, especially when she said, “I think a lot of aging is your mentality and how old you feel.”

Smith has also said, “I have the best family in the whole wide world,” and, “It’s all about love, all about family with me.” She has two children and three granddaughters, and she said of the grandchildren, “They take me back to a place of such magic and innocence.”

80 and still moving

Before her milestone birthday, she told AARP, “It's shocking to me to think about that, because I feel so young. I don't feel my age at all.” She added, “It's a state of mind,” and, “We’re all going to do it, [so] we have to realize what keeps us young and to keep going.”

That outlook matches the rest of what she has said about staying active and avoiding the mental trap of aging as a deadline. She has said, “I've never gone through a midlife crisis because I've always kept busy working and I've always been challenged,” and, “I'm also not obsessed with aging. I think that ages you.”

Clean living, family, genetics

Smith’s own explanation leaves a small wrinkle in the story: she ties her look to clean living and family, yet she has also pointed to genetics. Her grandfather lived until 101 and her mother reached 95, which gives her youthful image a hereditary backdrop rather than a single beauty routine.

She has also described her diet without pretending it is austere, saying, “I eat meat. I'm gonna have my hamburgers and I'm gonna have my pizza. I love cheese. I've gotta have my gummy bears.” The practical takeaway is simple: her version of youth looks more like consistency, work, family and attitude than a strict Hollywood rulebook, and that is probably why the photos land as more than a filtered post.
