West Lothian fundraiser organizers have launched an appeal for Aurora after Raffaele Bramante was killed in a hit-and-run in Linlithgow. The 18-year-old said her life has been changed forever, and she is arranging her father's funeral after he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Molly Vaughan, a family friend, set up the fundraiser on Aurora's behalf to help cover funeral and cremation costs expected to be around £5,000. Vaughan said Bramante's family have not yet had the opportunity to access any financial assistance or funding that may be available, while the arrangements still need to be made.
Linlithgow Main Street
Bramante, 48, was struck by a grey Renault Clio on Main Street on Sunday, August 30. A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident after failing to stop at the scene.
The arrest brings one part of the case forward, but the full circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. That leaves the funeral appeal as the immediate practical response for Aurora and the rest of Bramante's family, much of whom live in Italy, as they look to raise money and manage the next steps after his death.
Barleo tribute
Barleo paid tribute to Bramante after his death, saying his passing has left the team with enormous sadness. Vaughan urged people to contribute if they can, or share the fundraiser if they cannot, and said the aim is to take financial pressure away from Aurora and the family while they grieve.
What comes next is the investigation into the crash and the funeral arrangements that the fundraiser is meant to support. For Aurora, the immediate task is simpler and harder at the same time: getting the money together so her father can be laid to rest.
