Max Eberl says Bayern Munich are already thinking about the next contract steps for two of their attacking stars, while making clear that Harry Kane is expected to stay and Michael Olise has no release clause.
The Bayern board member for sport made the comments to Bild after both players were rested at the start and later came on as substitutes in Bayern's 0-0 draw at Schalke on Matchday 2 of the new Bundesliga season. It was a reminder of how central both players are to Bayern's plans, even if the club is already balancing a packed schedule.
Kane expected to stay
Eberl said he can see that Kane feels at home in Munich, at the club and within the team. He added that he could not think of any reason why Kane's contract should not be extended.
He also pointed to Kane's impact over the past two years, saying the forward has broken records and remains a top figure at the club. Eberl went even further by saying there is no other candidate when it comes to Kane's place in Bayern's long-term plans.
The timing matters because Kane has been one of Bayern's most important players since arriving, and last season he finished as Bundesliga top scorer for the third successive campaign while claiming his second title with the club. That kind of output gives Bayern every reason to try to secure his future well beyond his current deal.
Olise is under long-term control
Eberl was just as direct about Olise. Bayern kept him over the summer despite rumours to the contrary, and Eberl said the winger has made exceptional progress with the club.
He added that Bayern will sit down at the appropriate time to discuss the next steps, but stressed two key points: Olise still has a three-year contract, and there is no release clause. In Eberl's view, Bayern should know by next summer whether Olise is inclined to extend his contract.
That gives Bayern more breathing room than many clubs have with emerging attacking players. It also underlines how strongly the club views Olise's development after his early progress in Munich.
What comes next for Bayern
The comments arrive with Bayern preparing for another busy stretch. On Thursday, they host Bodø/Glimt in their UEFA Champions League opener at 9pm CEST, before travelling on Sunday to newly promoted Elversberg at 5.30pm CEST.
For now, the message from Bayern is clear: Kane is seen as a player worth extending, and Olise is firmly in the club's long-term thinking without any release clause complicating the picture.
