“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” Parker and Stone said in a Tuesday statement. They also said, “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

The rename fits the show’s long run as a pressure-point satire. South Park has been on air since 1997, and its most recent seasons leaned hard into Donald Trump, including a caricature of him impregnating Satan. The new title keeps that line of attack in plain view while tying the rollout to the show’s latest season.

That gap matters because it shows the rename was not just a joke in a statement; it had already reached one official platform while another public listing had not caught up.
Parker and Stone framed the change as a dig at the White House, big tech and Paramount Skydance, and they pointed to President Donald Trump’s push for U.S.-centric geographic renamings, including Lake Ontario to Lake America. Google and Apple agreed to change map-app names to Lake America, which gave the creators a ready-made target for the joke and a clean way to mock the corporate part of the chain at the same time.
The practical question now is how long South America stays in place on the show’s own site once the 29th season starts. With Comedy Central already using the new title and the premiere set for next Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the rename looks less like a passing gag and more like part of the season rollout itself.
