Prison Break Black Creek has started production at Hulu, and the series now has its first teaser in circulation. Elgin James is writing and running the reboot, which moves the franchise into a darker direction without resetting the universe.
Hulu shared the teaser on Thursday after giving the project a pilot order in 2024 and then a series order last fall. The show is set to stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, but Hulu has not set a premiere date.

Elgin James is attached as writer and showrunner, with Paul Scheuring, Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz executive producing alongside him. That lineup keeps the franchise tied to the people who helped shape the original Prison Break run across five seasons on Fox.
The cast list now includes Noah Emmerich, Catfish Jean, Augie Duke, Brad Beyer, Greg Vrotsos, Daniel David Stewart, and Michael Mosley in recurring roles, adding to previously announced stars Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, Drake Rodger, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores, Kelli Berglund, and Myles Bullock. The scale of the cast points to a series built to move quickly once production is underway.
Black Creek's darker turn
Prison Break Black Creek stays in the same universe as Prison Break, but it follows an all-new cast of characters and has been described as much darker than the original. The logline centers on an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove how far she will go for someone she loves.
The first teaser backs that shift with two details: a prison room with a metal nightstand that hints at tunneling on the other side, and a second video showing a woman tapping on the glass of a window. For viewers of a franchise built on escape mechanics, the teaser is doing the selling before a release date exists.
Fox franchise, new runway
The original Prison Break ran for five seasons on Fox and also spawned The Final Break and Prison Break: Proof of Innocence. This reboot is not trying to replay that history beat for beat; it is using the same universe to give Hulu a fresh entry point with a new cast and a harder edge.
