Nick Mohammed will host The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal, the new West End stage adaptation of The Traitors. The move turns the traitors format into a live theatre event, with performances set to begin on May 11, 2027 at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London.
Mohammed said, "At first, I didn’t want to believe that a series of fictional plays based on The Traitors could ever contain as many brilliant twists and turns as the real thing – or be quite as compelling." He added, "But John Finnemore has crafted an absolute masterpiece: a cycle of five plays that are each as funny as they are moving, and of course, deeply, deeply unpredictable."
Five plays, one host
The production is written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, with Studio Lambert and Neal Street Productions behind it. Stephen Lambert said the host role requires someone who can hold a live audience through an entire game each evening, and called that mix of charm, mischief, acting talent and stage control essential. His line on Mohammed was blunt: "Nick has all four."
The unusual part is structure, not branding. The production website says the story begins identically from Monday to Friday but develops into five entirely distinct plays, so a character who is banished or murdered early in one version can end up victorious in another. That gives the title an appeal beyond existing viewers: each run is designed to behave more like a branching system than a single fixed script.
Saturday audiences decide
On Saturdays the audience takes control and decides who will wear the cloak, with that choice determining in real time which version is performed during that show. In practical terms, the audience is no longer just watching the game mechanics that define The Traitors; it is selecting the version that the cast then has to execute on the night.
Mohammed also framed the job as a personal challenge. "To take on Claudia’s role, as it were, is not just a privilege but a real challenge as an actor – I simply don’t have enough hair," he said. He added, "But I will do my utmost not to disappoint," and, "Either way, this time round, I promise not to let down the whole nation right at the very end."

The announcement video placed Claudia Winkleman in the handover, swearing in Mohammed as the new stage host. The trailer was filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, tying the stage project back to the screen series without pretending the stage version will work the same way.
Lisa Rinna’s exit from The Traitors US shows how quickly this format can become a separate entertainment business around the original series, and this stage version pushes that logic further by changing the audience’s role. The audience at the Gillian Lynne Theatre gets a live vote, a different outcome each Saturday, and a production that starts with the same premise but refuses to stay in one shape.
