Yassine Bounou returned to Al-Hilal’s goal on Saturday as the team faced Al-Taawoun in Buraidah in the seventh round of the Saudi Roshn League.
The goalkeeper had recovered from the injury that kept him out of Al-Hilal’s previous match, a 2-0 loss to Neom. His return gave Simone Inzaghi an important option as Al-Hilal tried to rediscover their winning ways and keep pressure on the teams above them.
Before kickoff, Al-Hilal stood third in the table with 15 points from five wins and one defeat. They were also chasing top spot while sitting behind Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah, both of whom had played one more match. That made this a useful opportunity for Al-Hilal to narrow the gap and put the earlier loss behind them.
Al-Taawoun entered the match in 14th place with 3 points, having produced three draws and three defeats with no wins so far. The gap in the standings underlined the different situations for the two clubs, even with Al-Hilal still managing the added pressure of trying to stay in the title race.

For Al-Hilal, getting Bounou back was about more than just filling a spot in goal. A clean return from injury is especially valuable in a stretch where every result can matter in the title picture, and his presence also restored a key piece of the lineup after a disappointing defeat.
Against an opponent sitting near the bottom of the table, Al-Hilal had a clear chance to reset. For Bounou, the match marked a straightforward but important step: back in the XI, back in the league race, and back in position to help Al-Hilal push for the top of the table again.
