WoW Classic Plus is getting a concrete date. Jake Valentine reported that World of Warcraft: Forever will give World of Warcraft Classic a new, original-content direction, with the beta beginning this Thursday and servers set to go live on November 4th, 2026.
The timing gives Blizzard a clear runway from test phase to launch. It also turns a long-running wish inside World of Warcraft Classic into a scheduled rollout instead of another vague promise.
Jake Valentine on Forever
Jake Valentine, a contributor at DualShockers, said World of Warcraft: Forever is a brand-new version of World of Warcraft Classic built on its original design philosophy. That makes the project different from a simple rerun of older content: the point is to keep the Classic framework while adding material players have not seen before.
The official title matters because it gives Blizzard a label for a mode that sits between nostalgia and expansion-style design. For readers tracking Classic WoW, that means this is not just another seasonal reset; it is a named product with a launch schedule.
Blizzard and Classic Plus
Blizzard has already moved World of Warcraft Classic through The Burning Crusade and the Mists of Pandaria expansion, while Hardcore and Classic era servers show how split the game’s audience has become. Season of Discovery also added limited-time events, a new dungeon, a new raid, and other new gameplay, making it the clearest proof that Classic can absorb fresh systems without losing its identity.
World of Warcraft: Forever pushes that idea further. Instead of borrowing only from the past, it is being positioned as a Classic Plus-style route that keeps the older design language but opens the door to content that did not exist in the original game.
Brack, private servers, and pressure
Blizzard’s move lands alongside cease-and-desist notices to private servers offering a similar experience, which puts company policy and player demand on a collision course. J. Allen Brack once told a fan at BlizzCon 2013, “You think you do, but you don’t,” and later said legacy World of Warcraft Classic servers were in development; those servers launched two years later.
That history is why this announcement feels like a correction rather than a surprise. Blizzard is not only acknowledging that older-style play has an audience, it is also trying to define the terms of that audience’s next step before outside servers do it for them.
The beta starting this Thursday is the first practical checkpoint. If Blizzard uses that test window well, World of Warcraft: Forever could become the version of Classic that finally answers the demand for Classic Plus instead of just reacting to it.
