Blizzard revealed Warcraft Forever at BlizzCon 2026, putting a name to the long-rumored Classic+ direction for World of Warcraft. The project keeps the old-school social-first feel intact while adding new content, a clear break from the usual vertical expansion model.

WoW Forever adds three classic zones, three additional ones, three new raids, one new battleground, thousands of new quests, and the Skyborne elves. That combination turns the level 60 game into an expanding lane rather than a ladder, which is the part long-time World of Warcraft players have been asking for.

BlizzCon 2026 and Warcraft Forever

At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard also teased Eclipse, the next World of Warcraft retail content patch, and said players will take the fight to Xal'atath. The company also pointed to The Last Titan, which sounds as though it will land further out into 2027, keeping the focus split between the immediate retail path and the new classic branch.

Season of Discovery was Blizzard's first attempt at preserving the World of Warcraft classic experience while layering in new content, and Warcraft Forever pushes that idea much further. Instead of treating classic as a museum piece, Blizzard is extending it with raids, a battleground, quests, and a new race built around the same level 60 foundation.

Classic+ at level 60

The practical shift is simple: Warcraft Forever is built to grow horizontally, not vertically. Players do not need a higher level cap to get more game; they get more to do inside the existing cap, which keeps the classic structure recognizable while changing what progression looks like over time.

WoW Forever also sits in something of a time bubble, which gives Blizzard room to diverge from the current World of Warcraft timeline without forcing the classic ruleset to follow retail in lockstep. Whether World of Warcraft Forever is in a separate timeline from current World of Warcraft remains unclear, but Blizzard is clearly treating it as its own long-term lane rather than a one-off nostalgia pass.

Skyborne elves and new zones

The Skyborne elves are the most concrete sign that Blizzard is willing to add new identity, not just recycled content, to the classic framework. Three revived zones and three additional ones suggest the game is not being rebuilt as a side mode for a single season; it is being structured to accumulate content around level 60.

That is the real business move here. Blizzard is signaling that World of Warcraft classic can still be monetized and expanded as a living product, not only as a memory, and Warcraft Forever is the company’s first public proof that the Classic+ request is now a roadmap rather than a rumor.
