Cyle Larin has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for August after scoring in every game he played during the month.
The Southampton striker made an immediate impact on the opening day in August with a goal at Watford, then kept the run going later in the month by scoring the opening goal against Stoke back at St Mary's. He finished August by scoring twice in Southampton's 5-1 win over Millwall in SO14.
Why the award matters
The award reflects more than one big performance. Larin delivered across the full month, and that consistency was enough to put him ahead of Will Lankshear, Fer Lopez and Lloyd Jones in the race for the Player of the Month award.
For Southampton, it is a straightforward sign that the 31-year-old is already providing the kind of end product teams want from a striker. Scoring in every August match is a strong way to start any campaign, and it gives the club a reliable early attacking reference point.
August is often about setting the tone, and Larin did exactly that. After the month ended, the recognition followed, with the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for August award confirming the strength of his start.
