Ugo Ugochukwu finished fourth in Madrid Feature Race 1, a race Pedro Clerot won after starting from P2 and leading every lap. Campos Racing sealed the 2026 Teams’ title in the same event, with the result decided as the field rebuilt after a red flag and a Safety Car period.
Clerot took the lead from Taito Kato on the run to Turn 1, then controlled the race after the restart from a rolling start on Lap 3. By Lap 5, Clerot had built a 1.4s gap to Kato, while Ugo sat behind Tuukka Taponen in the fight for the lower podium places.
Clerot controls Madrid Feature Race
The opening lap changed the order quickly. A multi-car collision at the entry of Turn 8 brought out a red flag, with Bruno Del Pino and Enzo Deligny involved, Maciej Gladysz hitting the rear of Fionn McLaughlin, and Fernando Barrichello, Woohyun Shin and José Garfias also caught up in the incident.
After the stoppage, Clerot led the field away again on Lap 3 and never gave up control. Taito Kato held second for ART Grand Prix, and Tuukka Taponen finished third for MP Motorsport after Ugo Ugochukwu put pressure on him for third place once the race resumed. Ugo was right on Taponen’s rear when Taponen was more than two seconds away from P2.
Ugo Ugochukwu fights Jin Nakamura
The battle for fourth became the sharpest part of Ugo’s race. Ugo Ugochukwu was under pressure from Jin Nakamura for P4 even as Clerot’s lead grew and the race carried the weight of the earlier stoppage.
Ugo and Nakamura went wheel-to-wheel into Turn 5, and Nakamura gave the position back after going off track. That left Ugo in fourth, with Ernesto Rivera eighth and Théophile Nael ninth as the race settled behind the front group.
Campos Racing seals title
Campos Racing sealed the 2026 Teams’ title inside the same race, turning Clerot’s win into the decisive result of the afternoon. Clerot also moved level with Freddie Slater in the Drivers’ Championship, adding another title line to a race already shaped by interruptions and position battles.
Freddie Slater spun and hit the barrier at Turn 19 on Lap 10 and retired, and the Safety Car came out before racing resumed on Lap 12. For Ugo Ugochukwu, the clean finish in fourth kept him inside the group that mattered once the race reopened, and it left his place in the Drivers’ Championship standing as the next question the result raises.
