Brooks described the Buccaneers as the team with the widest range of possible outcomes in the NFC, which fits the way their 2025 season played out. The Buccaneers started 6-2, then came apart after the bye and ultimately finished with a losing record while watching the postseason from home.
That history makes the Week 1 meeting more than just a standard opener. The Buccaneers showed last year that a strong start does not guarantee much if the season turns later on, and the Bengals know they cannot afford to let an early game slip away if they want to avoid another slow chase through the AFC race.
