Likina Amebaw won the women’s 5000m at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship Budapest 26 on Sunday, running 14:30.36 to secure the title in convincing fashion.
The Ethiopian runner finished more than two seconds ahead of Australia’s Jess Hull, who crossed in 14:32.39. Fantaye Belayneh of Ethiopia took third in 14:32.62, completing a podium that featured two Ethiopian runners and one Australian.

Amebaw’s winning time separated her from the field and left little doubt about the result. Hull and Belayneh were the next athletes across the line, with Freweyni Hailu and Aleshign Baweke also part of the competition behind the top three.
