The Baltimore Ravens elevated Chris Moore from the practice squad Sunday for their season opener in Indianapolis, bringing a familiar face back onto the active roster for Week 1.

The move gives Baltimore an additional veteran receiver as it opens the 2026 regular season, and it comes at a time when the Ravens are managing some uncertainty at the position. Devontez Walker is questionable, while Teddye Buchanan is out, creating a need for more depth ahead of the game against the Indianapolis Colts.

A familiar return for Baltimore

Moore is a former Ravens draft pick, selected in the fourth round in 2016. He last played in a regular-season game for Baltimore in 2020, so this elevation marks a return to an active roster role with the team that drafted him.

For the Ravens, the move is a practical one. Elevating a player who knows the organization can help stabilize the group for a road opener, especially when the roster is still being adjusted in the first week of the season.

More roster movement around the opener

Baltimore also elevated Carl Jones Jr. from the practice squad for Sunday’s game. Jones’ 2025 campaign was split between the Chicago Bears and Ravens, and he played in four games with Baltimore while making one tackle.

The roster churn did not stop there. The Ravens added Jamon Johnson to the practice squad and released Lardarius Webb Jr., another sign of how quickly the back end of the roster can change in the lead-up to the opener.

With the season beginning in Indianapolis, Baltimore is using its practice squad to add short-term depth where it needs it most. Moore’s elevation is the clearest example: a veteran receiver returning to help the Ravens cover early-season uncertainty and get through Week 1 with more options available.
